PRNCHR.EXE
V1.3
Description:
Here is a brand new program by WyNiWyG !!!! PRiNt CHaRacter will
redefine the characters of your 9 or 24 pin dot-matrix printer. If you wish
to redesign a character, for example, the delta (CHR 127), simply run
PRNCHR.EXE and there you go!
This program requires an EPSON COMPATIBLE PRINTER
This program a first in a long line of bilingual and even trilingual
if there is sufficient demand. On another hand, its use is very simple but
too fully understand its use, it is preferable to carefully read the
following lines.
Program:
First off, the program gives you the choice of language and then asks the
type of printer as well as printing quality. You will to know two
essential things:
* To move, use the arrow keys. You can also use PGDN, PGUP,
HOME and END to move your cursor vertically. You can draw a point
with the space bar, ENTER, F1, Insert, +. Delete, F2 and - (the minus
key) allow you to erase a dot. You may also use SHIFT with the arrow
keys. You will toggle the dots position (you can use it to draw lines on a
blank page).
* The menu which you can call by pressing the ESCape key
proposes 6 choices:
- Characters: you choose the character to redefine
- Load: Type the name of the file. Do not include an
extension since the program saves file with its own extension.
- Save: The first option lets you create a save file that you
can load again to work on it. The second allows you to make a
permanent DOS save. (Explanations will follow)
- Print: Prints current character
- DOS Shell: this option shells to DOS
- Quit: quits to DOS
The Save command:
* You must understand two things; the save file will be used
ONLY to redefine your characters later; The DOS saves will be final:
the only thing you can do with this file is to send it to your printer. You
cannot modify it. To send the DOS file, type, at the DOS prompt:
COPY [FILENAME.DOS][#PORT] (notice that the .DOS
extension is obligatory)
For example if the file is called WYNIWYG1.DOS, and your printer is
on parallel port 1, type:
COPY WYNIWYG1.DOS LPT1:
Your printer will be set in the mode you had chosen (see printing
quality)
* If you're are using a word processor, you should read in your
manuals how to NOT reset the printer before printing. If you cannot
print your file with the new characters, save the text in ASCII and print
it under DOS.
